Dr. Karen Barr is a board-certified critical care physician from Pittsburgh, PA. She received her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. After receiving her medical degree, she pursued a Master of Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA.
Dr. Barr’s post graduate training began with an internship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, PA. She then completed a Family Medicine internship at the Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA. She completed her residency and fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, both in Pittsburgh, PA.
Upon completion of her fellowship, she served as Director of Physician Coverage Services at Lifecare Hospitals of Pittsburgh, PA and then as Clinical Director of ICU at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital in Greensburg, PA. More recently, Dr. Barr served as an intensivist at the Mt. Nittany Medical Center in State College, PA and Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
Outside of her professional work, Dr. Barr enjoys inline skating, traveling and music. She is an animal rescue league dog walker and cat foster volunteer.
